INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE POST OF REGISTRAR OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ABUJA

PRE-EMBLE
The Governing Council of the University of Abuja, hereby, announces that the position of the Registrar of the University will soon be vacant. By the provisions of the Universities Miscellaneous Provision (now Act) 1993, as amended, the Council invites applications from suitably Qualified candidates, with experience in university administration, for the post.

THE UNIVERSITY OF ABUJA
The University of Abuja (Uniabuja) was established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in January 1988 under Decree No. 110 of 1992 as amended. The University is a dual-mode University in Nigeria with the mandate to run conventional and distance learning programmes. Academic activities commenced at the University in 1990.
At the moment, the University has Sixteen Faculties, a College of Health Sciences, a Centre for Distance Learning and Continuing Education, Institute of Education, among others.

THE JOB
The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University and shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University. The Registrar, by his/her office, 1s Secretary to the Council, the Senate, Congregation, and Convocation.

THE CANDIDATE IS EXPECTED TO:
1. Not be below the rank of Deputy Registrar, for a minimum of five (5) years;
2. Be knowledgeable about the operations of the University system and competent to advise and take executive action on matters of planning, designing, and management in realization of the cardinal objectives of the University;
3. Demonstrate evidence of mentorship skills and resourcefulness in advancing administrative principles, processes, procedures, and practices in a university system; and
4. Be proficient In Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and current in deploying it at the level required for efficient job performance.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
The appointment shall be for a single term of five (5) years only, while salary and allowances shall be as applicable to the post of Registrar in the Nigerian Federal Universities, as may be determined by the Federal Government and Governing Council from time to time. The candidate should not be more than sixty (60) years of age as of 11th November 2024 when the post is due to be occupied.

16. Each applicant must submit names and addresses of three (3) referees who should requested to forward the referee's reports the Vice-Chancellor under confidential cover, not later than six (6) weeks from the date of this publication.
